Timbabear, thanks that you believe I know how to read the numbers, but fact is that I try to interpret them as good as I can.
All my knowledge I have about investing I collected in such newsgroups over the past two years. I try to learn as much as I can, because I want to start up with a company in a few years. Therefore all the knowledge I will collect here will be once gold in my hands.
In real life I am a scientist and probably that's the reason I have a rather mechanistical way of thinking.
You are wright when you say that some highly qualified people are joining this group; I like it and also the good sentiment here.

I got the impression that the bookvalue lost importence over the past years and as you mentioned the profatibility weighs heavier today.

But one thing I will never understand: Why money earned e.g. in homebuilding sector is less worth than e.g. in the high tech sector. I own MTH a homebuilding company with a very good management, very good growth and a good history which is valued with a PE below 7. If you compare it to yhoo with a limited income and growth which is valued with a PE of several hundreds. No, some things in investing are still not understandable for me.

If you are looking for a stock which fell well below bookvalue try FAIR. I think it was Tom who first mentioned it on this board. I am not invested in it since I am not sure whether this company will survive the next season.

I hope also you keep posting here

Best regards Ralph!
