You may be right. Bush's failure to get re-elected however IMO stemmed from other causes (a sluggish economy and the fact that Bush, while certainly a gentlemen, had a certain "goofiness" about him that did not sit well with the public). I don't recall the effect Nixon's resignation had on the economy and the market. I suspect therefore it was relatively minor. Unless Mr. Greenspan resigns in protest with Clinton, there will not be much effect on the market or economy. The Republicans will still be controlling the purse strings in Congress. As for the "embarassment" how much worse can it get. Look at Slick's latest jaunt in Africa for all the embarassment you need to feel. JLA
