<<When will you be buying on Monday?>>
Wade,
Me thinks quite a few of us are asking ourselves that very question. Heads- at the open at market. Tails- be patient, wait until 10-10:30 or so and read the action. Seriously though, I don't think an extra 1/8 or 1/4 tomorrow is going to mean squat before too much longer.

Happy Holydays to all.
Steve

<<Zebra, you once posted about when to buy in face of good news. When will you be buying on Monday?>>

I once wrote that the fastest land mammal is not the cheetah, it is the Market Maker raising the ask at the open when there are a lot of "buy at market" orders open. If you see large spreads in the first five minutes that is what is happening.

Then, you need to look at the size of the buy orders, if the size is large then "monster buyer" has returned and you should jump in as the price will probably rise through the day. If the size is small, then the chances are those orders will be cleared in about an hour and the ask may drop around 10:30 EDT.

Tim Flick could comment on this observation better than I.

I will be buying, bought some more last week as it looked like a lull.

Wade,

Thanks for your lucid post. My take on the "Possible problems":

a. Being bullish on TAVA, the chart was positive to me. So much so that I bought late on Thursday. I liked that the stock was quiet and the tightness of the Bollinger Bands indicates upcoming movement. I'm calling for it to be upward.

a. Agreed. However, I think that Y2K stocks could 'decouple' from the general market for a short period at some time. A slim hope but...........

c. TAVA took a hit of around 28% last November before bouncing back. It also drifted downward in Jan. after a substantial gap up. Slight possibility smart money could go to Y2K (and cash) during a crisis if it's not "The Big One".

d. Agreed. The present mania is partially defined by the market interpreting bad news as good news.

e. Normal volatility in the sector. The panic has not yet begun.

f. Agreed. As ever.

Yours thoughts appreciated.

All the best,
Bond

This is a neophyte's possibly silly, possibly brash question. Does a bid at the last listed ask price 12 3/16 have a chance of succeeding? If you have a guess at what will succeed, I would appreciate it. I own 300 shares bought low some time ago , want to get 200 or so more. Thanks Allen Scher <bran@u.washington.edu>
