Kevin: Most 401k plans today have multiple funds that you can select from. If you own AT&T shares, you may/will have to move those shares to another fund, but it doesn't have to be the lucent fund. My companies 401k plan offers 10 or so different funds. Doesn't Lucent offer multiple funds?

Dear Kevin,

I'm a big fan of Lucent and therefore a big fan of yours. Congrats on working for such a company.

As for the 401k, please consider running that information by a lawyer or at least a financial planner.

There are plenty of laws prohibiting what you describe.

Lucent cannot force you to sell AT&T and they cannot force you to buy LU.

I hope that's just a misunderstanding on your part.
