Thanks for the post and thanks for supporting my comment that there is no way, in the short term, that router prices will slide dramantically (to 10cents on the dollar) as you originally posted.

Chambers says that every year product performance doubles while prices halve. I believe this, however you orginally stated that with ASIC's prices will slide by an order of magnitude. This was my bone of contention. This just isn't going to happen overnight. Perhaps 10 years from now..but not next year and not the year after that. In the meantime new value added functions are being designed for routers that make them even more powerful..beyond what is being placed into ASIC's today. But working for BAY I can see why you wouldn't be aware of these new technologies..BAY's been playing catch up ever since the merger.
