Zeev, I was trying to make a case that it does not make thermodynamic sense, even if it is economical. My response was to John's observation of the energy used to make solar cells may be larger than
the amount it generates in a lifetime. Actually this discussion is
along the lines of Julian Simon contra John Erlich. If you read one of my earlier posts, I neither believe in the invisible hand (belief in it would amount to religion), nor do I trust the power of governments of making smart policy. In fact, I quite respect
your turnips. You must have been watching them for a long time and
from all I can tell, they reflect your good memory and a fine common sense, which allow you to muddle through with just a bit of an edge over the next guy. I need to learn to put the right balance to my hopes and the realities that every morning brings.
