Reflections of xDSL Performance

techstocks.com

Here is a relative chart of: PAIR, WSTL, AWRE, BBTK, and OCTF over the last two years. As much as we all think this market is going to boom because of the huge performance increase xDSL offers, history seems to be indicating otherwise.

I think we need to reflect on why xDSL isn't meeting our expectations. Are the DSL companies unable to get their price points low enough to meet demand? Is there not enough incentive for the RBOCs to aggressively pursue this market? Is $40-$60/month not a realistic price for enough consumers? Are we just too early in the cycle?

The only thing I do believe is that the RBOCs are dragging their feet because: A) they are RBOCs and they can't help themselves from being slow and clumsy, and B) they aren't too crazy about high speed data lines connecting to the Internet at this point in time because that will only entice more people to use long distance calls over the Internet.

What other thoughts do you have about why these stocks aren't performing?
