Good soldier Svejk, Fast reaction! You got to it before me, so I won't paste it in here. Or at least, not all. I suppose (but am not 100% sure) this is the mysterious company 'X' from last year? I like MVIS to push out a good piece of news when the price lacks impulses. Way to go! The first part should take care of the posts concerned with competition from LCD's, since the helmet specifically replaced 'old' LCD displays: 'The unique advantages of the VRD technology include increased brightness, contrast and higher levels of resolution of the displayed images for the pilot. Additionally, the power requirements for the VRD technology are much lower than the CRT, eliminating potentially dangerous levels of voltage near the pilot's head. The VRD technology also provides an upgrade path to full color, a capability which the current CRT system does not provide. These display features are critical performance and safety factors associated with helmet worn systems in the jet fighter cockpit environment.' Further, I like RR's firm indication of the market potential: ''Advanced HMDs continue to become an integral part of new builds and upgrades for jet fighters,'' said Rick Rutkowski, Microvision's president and CEO. ''This binocular, wide field of view system delivery demonstrates our ability to exceed existing CRT performance and meet future CRT requirements in HMDs. Microvision is committed to providing superior displays for the state of the art in air crew systems capabilities. We continue to demonstrate our ability to deliver superior solutions and will leverage these deliveries toward even more sophisticated cockpit display systems.'' And more: Only within the NEW building of jet fighters, there's a figure worth while noting: 'Microvision believes the development of this HMD and the potential commercialization of the binocular system will have high sales potential within numerous divisions of he armed services. According to industry analysts, an estimated 2,800 jet fighters worth more than $110.1 billion will be built worldwide in the next 10 years. Increasingly, 21st century aircraft are projected to utilize high performance HMDs as the primary pilot vehicle interface.' All we now need to know, is how much a VRD kit will cost for each unit built. For every $10,000 per unit, the new builds represent gross revenues in the (potential) region of 28 mln. Didn't someone talk of figures around 50,000 per unit at some point? Or is that just taken from thin air? Well, I would represent sales of 140 mln., so why not let us stick to it. I'm getting all giddy by the figures, so I'll shut up for now. Would like to see the share price up a $ or two, however... Kim
