Some Christians perspectives happen to be in the role of a victim or a rescuer. I see you have found a few of the rescuer type on this thread. I play neither role. I play no roles. I ask God every day to let me speak from purity of heart because my Father does not care for a "double minded man." Before I was born again I played the role of victim so that I could continue to live in a world of sympathy. When all of my rescuers finally left me it was a very rude awakening. That meant that I would have to be responsible or or die. Change of any kind is very painful and most just sit in there own mess, so to speak and never acquire the joy and peace that Jesus talks about. It has been a long, painful road for me but today, I have that joy and peace by "the Grace of God." I can appreciate and understand today that the indwelling Holy Spirit provides these things on a constant basis. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
