INDEX UPDATE
------------------

The DOW and NAZ is up strong, although the NAZ lagged in the morning.

But look at the SPX, which is lagging substantially still.

Such divergence is giving me the hint that we will be closing off the highs.

I would like to pose an alternative INTC scenario. If you were a new CEO and your predecessor were just leaving at earnings time; why not throw all the accumulated baggage (potential earnings shortfalls) into this earnings release. Then the comparative quarter's get a lot easier if this one is a real stinker. Also, it becomes hard to blame your predecessor after you have been on the job for a while. I'm not saying that this will happen; however, Mr. Grove is a ready made scapegoat (he is leaving during a cyclical downturn). This will not necessarily happen, but is an alternative interpretation of events about to unfold.
