Chu Mei Ash's greatest short.
Of interest to the historians who have researched the career of the great short Chu Mei Ash is that he does not mention what is purported to be his greatest short in his two books on the market, 'Zen of Shorting' and 'Candlestick Charting'. If fact nearly all of the records we have on the short come from Tac Se.
Tac Se was a fellow short who began as a rickshaw operator, he began hiring out other ricksaw operators and then founded a large company. After selling the company he joined Chu Mei in the market.
The short was of a company known as Mi Lo Blo. It was a martial arts school that was very successful in Tokyo. Chu Mei became involved when he began seeing the daughter of the owner. The daughter was a highly skilled instructor at the school. She was a noted beauty with a firm athletic body and gorgeous face, named Yum Mi. By all accounts Chu Mei Ash and Yum Mi became very intimate and were almost always to be seen together.
Chu Mei Ash at this time was to discover the most bearish of all candlestick patterns and supposedly spotted this pattern on the chart of the Mi Lo Blo school. He promptly hit it with a massive short. Immediately after, the stock of the company crashed and Chu Mei Ash had gathered a fortune off of his short.
This success had huge repercussions in his relationship with Yum Mi. Although Tac Se does not give full details of what transpired, what is known is Yum Mi confronted Chu Mei about the short at his home. Chu Mei showed her the new candlestick formation and indicated that was why he shorted it. Yum Mi however felt he had used information gathered while they were intimate and further should not have profited from her fathers company crashing in the first place. The two separated for good from that point on.
Tac Se indicates that when he congratulated Chu Mei on this extremely successful short he only replied "It was not worth the pain." and would say no more. Nearly all historians feel this is an indication of the deep feelings he felt for the beautiful Yum Mi and the loss he felt at their break up. One historian however denies this interpretation. He says a number of records indicate for several months after the meeting between Chu Mei Ash and Yum Mi, Chu Mei was noted to have a very splay legged way of walking. And that further right after he named the famous candlestick pattern which he is supposed to have used to short the company. The name given is normally called the the 'Kicked Crotch' pattern in the West but a more accurate translation would be the 'Exploded Groin'.
