Holly,

The only voice recognition system I'm aware of is an automatic scope/camera holder which is used in laparoscopic operations. Now we use an assistant who intuitively (for the most part) knows what the surgeon wants to see and moves the scope in and out, side to side, etc. I saw a voice recognition model demonstrated at a meeting recently. The scope/camera was held by a robot arm which responded to brief voice commands: IN, OUT, RIGHT, LEFT. I wasn't very impressed.
