I spoke to my H & Q broker. He said the drop was due to a consortium that announced that they are going to develop a similar DRAM chip that will be in direct competition with Rambus (not sure if this is the same news reported last night on the thread).
Their analyst (I guess this Chaplinsky guy) says that they will be at least three years behind RMBS and sees this as a buying opportunity. When the street realizes this, the stock should go back up (at least thats what my salesman...uh..I mean.. broker, told me!)

If RMBS won't do anything until 4th quarter or 1999, why does anyone buy it now(this is a sincere question) I played around with RMBS and bought in at 71 and rode it to 82 twice last year, luckily I sold twice because if I had it at 71 now I'd be upset. I too have shares I am holding for the long term but I am not quite sure why I bought them so soon. I guess the day it popped the 18 points to 61 I was afraid I'd miss out on the real rise. I now hold 200 shares at an average of 54 1/2. Ofcourse I wish I had waited to buy for the long run until it hit the low 40's, but who knew!
