ATI'S RAGE PRO TURBO(TM) CHIP AND VIDEO ACCELERATORS TO DRIVE GRAPHICS FOR NEW SERIES OF HP PAVILION PCS

ATI's leading-edge graphics ideal for high-end through to the sub $800 PC

TORONTO, April 15 /CNW/ - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY) today announced
that its graphics accelerators will be a key component of several new PCs from
Hewlett-Packard Company. From high-end multimedia systems designed for the
enthusiast, to the sub-$800.00 PC segment, ATI is the graphics and video power
for new HP Pavilion PC models 3265, 8250 and the top-of-the-line 8290.
Servicing a wide selection of uses and price ranges, the new HP Pavilion
PC models feature ATI's RAGE PRO TURBO chip, with DVD, AGP (Accelerated
Graphics Port) and ImpactTV, or the VT2 chip for high-quality video
acceleration.
The RAGE PRO TURBO AGP chip is featured on the multimedia HP Pavilion
8290 PC model, the first system in the series supplied with the new Intel
400MHz processor. The RAGE PRO TURBO AGP chip offers the best DVD support of
any integrated graphics chip. The result is the highest level of realism
possible in 3D applications for avid gamers, and superb home theater and
entertainment applications.
''ATI's technology is an integral component in helping HP Pavilion PC
owners enjoy the full benefits of graphics and imaging applications,'' said
Chris Pedersen, worldwide brand manager for HP's Home Products Division.
''ATI's high-performance solutions help us offer customers graphics
capabilities at competitive prices.''

ATI's leading edge AGP and DVD technology
The RAGE PRO TURBO chip's leading AGP technology will bring the full
benefit of the new graphics bus to HP Pavilion 8290 PC users. ATI's
leading-edge AGP 2X implementation, which includes SideBand Addressing (SBA)
and Pipelining as well as AGP Texturing, increases the intensity of 3D images
on the screen and results in higher quality DVD with less CPU utilization.
The RAGE PRO TURBO chip, with its motion compensation technology to
assist software DVD acceleration, produces high-quality DVD playback that can
be played through PC software, and with higher resolutions than is possible
with a simple DVD video player/TV system. It provides the full frame rates
needed for DVD/MPEG2 playback, frame rates that are not possible without
motion compensation.

ATI's value-packed VT2 video chip and Intel's Celeron a cool partnership
Also among the new models announced today is the HP Pavilion 8250 PC,
which features the new Celeron 266 MHz value chip from Intel, a perfect match
for the VT2 upgradeable accelerator. It makes a highly cost-effective AGP
system at $1299.00. HP Pavilion model 3265 PC, with a 233 MHz processor, also
uses VT2 to produce a richly featured, video-enabled system, at the
market-beating price of only $799.00
''ATI is delighted three more HP systems join the HP Pavilion PC models
already using ATI technology, including the RAGE PRO TURBO 2X AGP graphics
accelerator chip,'' said Ed Grondahl, vice president of product marketing at
ATI. ''ATI's commitment to provide the widest range of cost effective
technologies is ideal for helping HP to continue its leadership in the
consumer PC space.''
