Heh heh heh.... From the zdnet article Steve posted:

"The [Celery based] Deskpro EP 6266's Winstone score--15.3--was a bit lower than that of the average 233-MHz Pentium MMX PC in that roundup. In fact, it was only about one point better than that of the roundup's 166-MHz Pentium MMX PC. And its CPUmark score was actually ten points lower than that system's."

What a dog.

SP,
Re --Here is proof that Celeron (and Intel) suck..

Here is proof that PC mag sucks, and will do anything to sell their rag.
They can't compare apples to apples, they compare the celeron with the PentiumII, but on other benchmarks compare the celeron with the Pentium 233.

On our 3D WinMark tests, the Deskpro EP 6266 posted a score of 35.7; by comparison, Pentium II PCs that we've tested (at 300 MHz and faster) with relatively adept graphics boards typically post scores of 600 or more.

Looks like AMD will have to COPY cyrix innovation of DISPOSABLE chips.

Steve , re. Celeron stinks
Not only Celeron but PII also.
How could Intel explain how they marketed a supposedly more advanced CPU than Pentium MMX which when put on a level playing field with Pentium mmx underperforms it . In other words it appears as if they took an inferior design to Pentium mmx and by smoke and mirrors (i.e. L2 cache)made it appear superior .
