John, I think there is so much sleaze associated with the Clintons the public is just overwhelmed. I'm still not quite sure why the public doesn't seem to care. Part of it is the massive spin machine at the White House, of course, and the shifting of the blame to Ken Starr. But I think more of an explanation for the phenomenon is that the public really knows deep down in their hearts that this guy is a sleazeball, but they don't want to accept it. Everything is going pretty well in their lives. Their mutual funds are soaring and they see themselves retired at 55, sipping fruity drinks on the beach and watching their fortunes grow without any effort on their part. Who in hell wants to have that dream shattered? They get angry if you point out the dirt they are living with. Things will change eventually, but WJC may be gone by then. Jack
