re: This time it is different! MUEI has hired a DELL executive, so it will be done the DELL way.

This is nice, But DELLs biggest threat is that CPQ will let its net margin come down to DELLs level. Yes, despite all the talk, CPQs net margins, up to 1Q98, have been higher than DELLs. Translation, CPQs agressive pricing will continue for some time to come.

BTW, CPQ generated over a billion in cash during the quarter and DELL is issuing debt.
Go figure.

Jim

My mother-in-law says she can easily emulate DELL as well, so what is that prove, anything????

First of all this is old news, and secondly there are a lot of ex-DELL executives out there working for various tech companies if you think they can all emulate DELL and implement the DELL model overnight or even in the long run,I would have to say you could be sadly mistaken.

Wait a minute James... MUEI is good because it is going to copy Dell, but Dell wasn't good so you shorted it? Do I have this right?

Isn't the phrase "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" applicable here?
