If I very conservatively just add the eps surprise to the existing
analysts' consensus for 1998 and don't change any other quarters and
keep the future profit growth RATES as before, I come out with a
(CAPM/earnings) price above $40 for AAPL.

You estimate is as close as what I predict in the previous post.
How soon the price can reach $40 depends on how shorts react to this
surprising Q2 reports. Now, the volume of shorts is around 15m
shares. I don't believe they can sleep well today particularly
individual shorts. I think a significant number of shorts will
cover back in tomorrow's early session which will cause short squeeze.
However, some probably stubbornly resist the moving trend which will
result in heavier loss in the long run. If they cover sooner than
anticipated, then $40 will be within reach before shareholders
meeting (4/22). There is going to be a long long day tomorrow for shorts to
technically cover back their positions.

David,
I use Datek and am experiencing the same thing. My portfolio shows AAPL with a value of zero, not marginable. Must be a computer glitch. Hope they get it fixed early. I wanted to put in a sell order at 37 1/4 to see if I could get lucky on a spike up. [There... just did it!]

I think Phil is on the nose with his 33-35 range for the close Thursday.

Still sippin,
HerbVic

David,

I don't know how Datek can say that AAPL is not marginable. Switch brokers.
