I noticed that with todays Intel announcement of 350 & 400 mhz versions of the PII
processor, AMD is now 3 speed grades behind,

Elmer,

With that announcement, Intel share quickly retreated. I guess the market is not too impress... A 266mhz Celery stick runs lower than K6-166. Why didn't Intel demonstrate a 266 Pentium MMX against the Celery so that everyone can see the ugly truth --A giant step backward?

Re: <AMD's Last Chance>

<<I noticed that with todays Intel announcement of 350 & 400 mhz versions of the PII processor, AMD is now 3 speed grades behind, 333,350 & 400. I believe this is the widest gap ever. In terms of frequency, Intel's top of the line processor is a full 33% faster than AMD's top of the line( 400/300), also the widest gap ever. In absolute numbers, AMD is 100mhz behind Intel, again the widest gap ever. Furthermore, AMD has just posted their worst loss ever. AMD is broke and falling farther behind the performance curve. Socket7 is all but dead and the market move to slot1 is undeniable. Intel's 100mhz bus is here and it will further speed the demise of socket7. AMD has no equivilant (other than promises). I think it is indeed the last chance for AMD, that is if it isn't already too late. >>

INTC's Last Chance:

Yes with todays Intel announcement of 350 & 400 mhz versions of the PII processor, AMD is now 3 speed grades behind, 333,350 & 400. Also with todays Intel announcement of Celeron 266 mhz Intel's low-end PII is NOW 3 SPEED GRADES BEHIND THE K6-233MHZ IN TERM OF PERFORMANCE! A Celeron 266 is worst than a K6-166. I also believe this is the widest gap ever that Intel is really behind on their performance of their latest product. In terms of performance, Intel's top of the line processor for valued consumers is a full 33% LOWER than AMD's top of the line 0.35um( K6-233MHz), also the widest gap ever. Furthermore, INTC has just posted their worst profit margin ever in the last several years. INTC is laying off 3000 workers and falling farther behind the performance curve in their latest product. Intel still sell 50% units socket 7 CPU and the Celeron will further speed the demise of Slot 1. INTC has no better idea in presenting products to valued consumers (other than false advertisement). I think it is indeed the last chance for INTC. They just destroyed their Intel Inside campaign by introducing a shit product. That is if it isn't already too late.

Elmer: There is always a two sides in every story. I just present the other which you chose to completely ignore.
