The G3 would melt that Dell.

The bulls running wild. Apple posts two consecutive quarters with a small profit, and it "could melt Dell".

I'm glad this company seems to have found a way out, but let's keep things in perspective, ok?

carrngc, People look at the face speed number when they compare. So a 333 Wintel is faster the a 300 G3, end of story.
You and I know that an 300 G3 is around a 366+ Pentium-II in speed with the 66 Mhz bus. With the new 100 Mhz bus and 400 Mhz P-II the lead will go Pentium, even though G3 has even faster chips in the pipeline.

I think people have discounted all braggin claims as to speed and look at the MHZ numer as one thing they can count and quantify on the power up screen. 333 is faster than 300.

Apple must compete if it is ever to break from it's niche markets.

Even the schools are abandoning Apple. There are profits now and as long as Apple is well managed it can stay profitable with a steady decline in sales, until it finds an expansionary product line. The trouble is the WIntels are all over all the markets like ants at a picnic, and the numbers of the ants grow at over 25% per year.

The NC has now failed in the Wintel arena and makers are adding hard drives to their stock and selling them as networked Wintels to escape the debacle. There are some thin client sales, but the explosion never happened. I hope Apples NC has the internal space to do this or we will see them at Space Age Metal Products(largest surplus dealer in LA..Torrance) very soon.

Star trek project.... A year away from release at the least if they want more than a crappy beta from the archives.

Parallel sales from a clone market is the only hope, along the lines of what I have said before.
