LoD,

I found the performance numbers I was looking for.
Seems the 400 is not quite the speed demon that
everyone was hoping for.

High end Winstone 98 scores

300 333 350 400
34.8 36.5 38.6 41.2
+5% +11% +18% Vs the 300 in all cases.
cost (these are estimates from what I have read)
$375 $492 $621 $824
+31% +66% +120% VS the 300 in all cases.

That aint bad, a 120% increase in price for 18%
performance improvement.

Is dell going to be able to sell thousands of
these Highend machines or will Folks settle for
just an 11% improvement for only 66% more.

And there are those that think the price of desk
top computing is not falling faster than ever before.

This is not going to effect anything today or
tomarrow, But could Intc be up against a speed wall ?
Could Moores law be breaking ?
If you can answer Yes to either of these, Then the
magnificant future of computing may be a bit further
off than we thought.

My point here is that when the P166 came out, It was much
faster than a P90, A PPro 200 is 50% faster than a P166.
but, Come on, 300 to 400 and only 18%, I thought the bx100
was going to help more than that.

My numbers come from
