>>Explain to me why they [Nortel and TVOntario] blew it. <<

Hi Don,

I'm not saying anyone has "blown" anything.

What I am saying is that I don't understand why Arel hasn't integrated their net technologies in their DL product. I doesn't appear that Arel has integrated the powerful potential of its iFax/Phone into their DL product known as IDEAL.

And I am wondering why.

FWIW, I think Nortel has done a very smart thing.

Perhaps IDEAL fits TVOntario's demographics and current technology base. I will tell you that there is no doubt that DL is a very big matter and is growing. Some historically very big players (individuals) are now looking into DL in a big way.

To me it appears that you are ready to see me as flaming Arel, Nortel, TVOntario. But I am not.

I am puzzled by the apparent lack of technology integration within Arel in their product lines. Integrating what Arel has seems to me to offer a very powerful synergy.

Other than that, the social and communication skills of two of their personnel seem a bit thin IMHO (see the anecdote in my earlier post).

Ultimately, there is serious competition in traditional DL approaches. IDEAL appears to be a traditional approach: TV, and a phone connection. Lots of business is doing that with various options attached. That doesn't mean to say that $ can't be made that way.

However, integrating the web and DL video is a very powerful medium IMHO. Some companies are doing that.

So it's not a matter of anyone "blowing it," as you put it.
