Bill sez: "I sold my share in Arkon in 1982 and started Computer Parts Galore on College Street. Arkon was run by the partners son and he did not keep his eye on the ball. Theft by employees because the owner was not right at the switch was the reason."

This must have been the point in which public perception started to turn negative - things certainly went wrong fast there.

It's odd but places like Arkon failed before The Mac Store, Appland, and many others really came to light - clearly there was enough Apple share left for them to survive? Why not Arkon?

Sorry - I've never heard of CPG...what cross street is it at on College?

Looks like you got out while the getting was (reasonably) good...sure sounds like retail is hell. The Wintel world seems all the more cutthroat though, given that there are soooo many screwdriver shops out there...

Cheers,
