Doc: The thread sounds good to me. I need all the help I can get. I'll be here from time to time. Right now I burnt out from staring at the screen all day. Also, from stress of not knowing what to do about my SEEK holdings tomorrow. The bubble may burst tomorrow since XCIT reported earnings after the close. They were very good but....

I shouldn't complain if it drops some since it's a 2 1/2 bagger

Craig

SYQT -- BLITZKRIEG

My first Blitzkrieg pick is <gasp> Syquest.

As alot of you know, SYQT is a competitor of Iomega (IOM) in the removable disk drive market. Their product is good and people tell me the drives are faster and cheaper than IOMs (Me, I have IOM drives, never tested a SYQT drive in my life).

This is a short term, news driven pick for the following reasons. First, IOM is failing bad. They couldn't even make rock bottom estimates, per today's earnings report. Second, as reported in TheStreet.com, the bad sales of Jaz drives have been theorized to be due to ramping sales of Syquest's removable disk drives. A very limited channel check shows this to be true. Third, I have visited the neuroradiology departments of all hospitals I am on staff at, and they use Syquest drives to hold the digital data from PET scans. They **hate** IOM drives.

There has been some large insider buys in the last 5 months at prices higher than now.

The bad news: Shares outstanding have rocketed to about 72 million after a series of private placements. This is tempered by the fact that SYQT has no trouble getting alot of financing. Their business strategy is very high risk, namely, sell their drives at below cost (that reminds me of an old joke, but never mind) and hope they capture market share before raising prices. It worked for the Japanese for years, but look where Japan is now.

This is very high risk, but looks like a good short term play off the news. The news is so fresh, I have not even started a position yet, so I could get screwed with the rest of you.

Remember: Never let a trade turn into a investment. (Aside: Yeah, I blew it with DGIV, but that is a one in a thousand scenario where a stock goes from 30 cents to 6 bucks in a month).

FIXC Siege--goodness, how formal. Actually Doc this thread seems a tad rational to make it. Investing Philosophy?? Of course I'm joking. I like Fixc in the next couple of weeks, particularly next week, for a couple of reasons; fundamentally, of course, because I think that is a solid company. But I think for next week it will be a good buy because a lot of possible good news is pending. (1) From the beginning Ceo Fixler wanted off the BB and into Nasdaq. Recently FIXC surpassed the four $ mark for the first time and has held it consistently -- look for that announcement. (2) May possibly announce the opening of a new line, or an entirely new plant-- yes, this is conjecture (educated conjecture). (3) At the share holders meeting next week, Wednesday, will announce 1st quarter earnings and they are expected to be phenomenal. Earnings 1997--8 million. Estimated 1998 earnings-- 48 million EPS .35 compared to .2 loss in 1997. Fixc manufactures plastic pallets, has a licensing agreement with Allied Signal. a recycling agreement, etc., etc., (you guys will look this stuff up if you care). Bottom line--next week will really be a good one -- will pick up momentum on the news. Also check two news releases out this week. Security Capital says it better than I can.
