Yes it is, I guess I'm lucky. I love my mother and miss her very much because we live so far away. My father and mother were divorced in my teens. That seems to have caused a distant relationship with my father. Lucky for me my step-father is one of the greatest guy's on earth.

It's sad you can't reconcile things with your mom. The reality of getting older is understanding that sometimes with age does not come wisdom. One thing I believe is that unless you are continuously challenging yourself to learn and think throughout life. You can stagnate and never become that wise old person.

To me, this thread is a part of that learning experience. I would hope that as I post my thoughts, I am also learning to write just a little bit better.

Writing as well as you do is really something I would like to improve on.

Michael

Hi Christine, My mother spanked me with a yardstick. I feigned being hurt and cried, but I really didn't mind, because it didn't hurt at all. My dad, however, used the old fashioned razor strap, and that really stung and left welts, especially the metal end. We were never close, and never really had any discussions. I do not miss him. I vowed to myself to never treat my son that way, and I haven't. I spanked him once, and he really had it coming. He turned out just fine.
