Well, you may be right. I have only used the belt twice in 5 years with my oldest. Both times I felt his personal safety was in jeapordy. It was a calculated decision I made. Hammering repeatedly on a 4 foot window, and playing with the stove burners was not something I wanted him to think about. It was my personal decision, and I can live with it. Each parent must weigh their decision individually. Besides it was the ritual which was important, and not the actual spanking. Jeez, I've probably slapped my knee harder than I hit him. You can call it abusive if you want. I will call it appropriate discipline. Michael
