mindmeld,

If Iomega did repurchase stocks to support price levels it would show up on the balance sheet in the shareholders equity section. It would be reported under the account name of "Treasury Stock", which is a contra account to shareholders equity. Thus, when stock is repurchased and held by the corporation itself it is called "treasury stock", and when another corporations stock is purchased it is recorded as an investment on the balance sheet as either a current on non-current assets depending on how long the securities are expected to be held. So if you find a "Treasury Stock" account on the balance sheet and it has increased the company is trying to do one of the following:
1)have shares available for the future exercise of stock options
2)try to boost stock prices
or
3)attemping to block potential takeovers

Now go see if you can support you statement.
