There was an article in a recent issue of the NYTimes with respect to management pumping up the price of the stock. It seems as though most of them have options to buy (and by inference to sell) stock. Thus, if they can pump up the price, they can realize a larger gain on the exercise of their stock options. It would seem that another term for this type of corporate executive would be "spin doctor".
