TTOSBT - Re: "Does it make any difference TO THE PC USER/OWNER which process .35 or .25 is in their system? I'm getting close to purchasing a new system and wanna buy the latest and greatest without being a guinea pig for the unproven."

Intel's older Pentium II (Klamath), with speeds of 233, 266 and 300 MHz were built on the 0.35 micron process.

Intel's new Pentium II (Deschutes) with speeds of 333, 350, 400 (and soon, 450 MHz) are built on the 0.25 micron process.

All the 440 BX chips are built on the 0.35 micron process.

Don't worry about being a guinea pig. Intel began PRODUCTION on the 0.25 micron process in July of 1997 using it for the 200, 233 and 266 MHz Tillamook Pentium MMX chips for notebook PCs. The 0.25 micron process is being run in 3 wafer Fabs - D2 (Santa Clara), Fab 11 and Fab 12. Fab 14 in Ireland will be coming on stream with the 0.25 micron process.

That leaves out Windows.

You will have to go with a UNIX OS. For the rest of us Microsoft has made us all guinea pigs!
