Well, they're calling it the "new" Borland as they move away from commodity-based tools into the enterprise but I would assume this name change is part of that. This whole Visigenics mess is getting stranger by the minute. Now Sun will be offering ORB for free and that's going to allow competitors who will no longer be receiving Visigenics with an alternative. So it sort of boils down to Borland paying well over 120 million for free-stuff. I guess we'll just have to wait for the 29th for an explanation but I'm going to get very worried if we hear another infonet strategy. Maybe we will hear them announce objectsoftware or something equally trite.

What concerns me is the seemingly endless increases in stock option grant limits. 5.7m is a lot of shares.

Neil.

Anybody have any comments on Borland's plans to change its comapny name?

Ahhh, Yes. YES, YES, YES, YES

This is even better news than the stock breaking 10. I was going to post a message a couple of weeks back asking Mr. Yocam to consider changing the company name, but he is way, way ahead of me. Frank Borland who was at the time with United Airlines had his name put to good use. But as we all know, Borland is known for great tools, but also a loser who got buried by you-know-who. It's time to move on and up. This action will bring good thing to this company. It is more confirmation of Mr. Yocam's capability.

Name change? The last refuge of the management team that has run out of ideas.

I shudder to think what they will have come up with.
