I don't know if you can still drive Lombard. There are two San Franciscos, one for tourists and one for residents. I live way up on Twin Peaks with forests and lots of wild animals, and very few people. That is the way I like it, because I am sort of a recluse. I have to drive at least a mile even to buy a soda or a newspaper.

When people come from out of town and want to see things like Fishernan's Wharf and Lombard Street it is really fun to show them, but I feel like I am in a very different place, like I, too, have gone on vacation. Driving down Lombard Street of my own volition would be as exotic to me as visiting Bali, something I really want to do, but something I also see as very, very far away.

At my age, I am starting to feel like my entire body is going in reverse, or rather is stalling out, now that I think of it, so I would especially not want to drive down a steep hill in reverse. I would get very carsick.

Enjoy your relative youth, Duncan. I thought I would never feel older, but everyone does eventually.
