John, Thanks for your brilliant rejoinder. I can truly appreciate the time & effort you expended, as well as the restraint, logic , wisdom & maturity demonstrated. I will have to be much more careful in my choice of words before I consider challenging you again. So, we seem to exist in a situation where the readers have rights to suggest that the posters' rights to post what, when, where, why & how they choose are subordinate to the readers' rights to insist that the posters' behavior conform to the expectations of each & every reader, whether or not these individual expectations are contradictory? And a suggested remedy is to post less or not at all? Don't the posters have rights to suggest implicitly or explicitly where the readers' suggestions for behavioral modifications on the part of the posters ought to be safely & securely stored? We are both in agreement that they do. If you had been given some non-monetary form of compensation to defend the posters from the rights of the readers to suggest that the posters were currently not good enough to meet the expectations of the readers, would you have better suggestions other than to post less or not at all? >> In general, I think it is meaningless to postulate about rights & obligations absent a social framework. << It's tough to disagree with this. But since we have chosen to get involved in this cesspool, and since we have chosen opposite approaches to equity, if you would like, elaborations on your opinion, as both a poster & a complainer about postings, as to how to equalize the equity between the 2, would be most appreciated. Thanks again for your very valuable contributions in this area. In the interests of collegiality, I will refrain from posting phone directories. But,it's very tough to lay off the jokes. IMO, it's not the foreknowlege of the punchlines of the jokes, but the stylistics & skill of their interpreter that cause audiences to want to hear the same ones over & over & over again.
