David: Greetings. Thanks much for the heads up on SEMI. It had me a bit concerned but looked OK fundamentally so I chose to list them and see what others thought. "On your sentiment ratings are you referring to sectors in favor/ out of favor or just market sentiment for the particular stock? " To answer your question: I choose to look at sentiment in as broad of terms as possible. Although I do put more weight on an individual stocks news, the broader markets need to be explored also. It seems very plausable that a stock makes the 13's because of industry news and not on it's own merit. Not to say that industry news is not valid, it's just that I'm not putting my money into a fund which has a position in the entire sector, I'm putting it into a specific company that has it's own inner, well, innards. Therefore I use Internet Trader to study the specific companies on my list along with bellweathers of the industry like FNM, FDX, INTC, G, on and on... I get a fairly accurate picture here and dig deeper the closer I get to aquiring a specific stock. I place more weight on my average if a stock is sound fundamentally and +ly performing against it's industry, I place alot of weight on my avg if a stock is sound fundamentally and is +ly performing with it's industry. Sentiment, to me is actually a great indicator of wether a move really has a floor or not. It unsticks the ticker from it's industry and allows me to trust the charts more. The other area I'm placing alot more focus is the surprise associated with news stories. I study this simply in the following criteria: Surprise: The news story (or rumor) causes a significant upward price move that day. The news story causes a spike in vol that day. When I encounter alot of surprise then it leads me to the following conclusion: The company is turning the corner or the company has very little coverage. I like to see this happening but is has it's downside. The market may be in prove it mode, demanding more news to keep the price moving. This opposed to an established company which can ride the wave longer with more coverage in the market. I like to see surprise David, but by no means is expected news inferior. Expected news implies follow-through. This builds confidence in the sentiment towards the stock buy making investors re-concider selling because this ticker is satisfying the expectations of the general market. In the end neither reaction, to me, is any better than the other, although surprises are more risky, this balances out with the larger potential for gains. your list: Well, we agree on the following: IVX Much potential TTN Really bullish here. May up its avg next week. CCUR Doug's pick, I rarley re-enter, what's your take the OH. OMGA Loosing confidence, w/o news it will drop off next wk. HAUP Raising avg with the publicity, confused, will this fuel it up? NVAL Dying to get in, must it close above 7.54 or stay above all day? PSIX Will be watching. SYGR Finally time? May buy Mon w/ good vol. David, why not ROSS? I'm quite bullish here, what's missing? Finally, I'm really bullish on CAND next week too, the only worry I have about them is there lack of news releases. Good night. IsaacF1
