I agree. AMD chips are compatible and are cheaper. If they didn't exist, the Intel variety would be 3 times more expensive.

Price is a big factor in this market. I bet we'll be talking about the sub $500 PC soon. Many people won't buy one yet because of price and they don't need the fastest one to surf the web and read email. The fastest PCs are needed only for running Microsoft Office and other bloated products.

Ronald, I don't know if AMD has compatibility problems or not. What I do know is that my business depends on PC's, Intel processors do work, and that for a benefit of under $500 per PC I will not take any risk. For the same reason I stick with known brands. For me to try a different processor, it would have to offer performance advantages over Intel, not price. But I am very glad than AMD is out there holding down prices......
