Rocky, >>>>>>>>For my Roland workstation needs, the CD-RW drive is fabulously perfect. For one thing, you can master and burn audio CD's right from the unit, and they will play in regular CD players. You can also burn CD-R's that can hold hard drive archives and all of the raw audio files. The CD-RW discs can hold ongoing projects that are to be
rewritten at the end of a day. When the entire project is done, you can archive to CD-R for 0.89› per 650MB disc and file it away.
Since most of my files are audio files, I am content to play it safe and burn them at only 2X speed. Audio files need to be treated with care, and one should also never never data compress them. Our usual way of backing up and archiving was to data-DAT. Now, it will be CD-R and CD-RW.<<<<<<

Agree 100%

>>>>>>>Cd-RW drives and CD-R drives are much cheaper than Jaz2, and at $319, seriously encroaching on Jaz1 territory. They are getting cheaper month after month, and you will see $199 CD-RW drives by the end of the Summer IMO.<<<<<<<

Some people need a media that can be read/writeable with SPEED. It is going to be a while before CDR/W has speed like 10ms read/12ms write.
