I vote for the latter. They probably have had a marriage of convenience for a great many years, probably by mutual agreement and to their mutual and individual benefit.

My guess is that she will. But I don't think she'll be "standing by him" in the C&W sense. They've had a pretty effective partnership for many years, and there's no reason why this shouldn't continue. Don't think they're any more likely to divorce than, say, FDR and Eleanor would have been had he lived past his last term in office.
