I have web pages on different free sites...

Without going into detail....

uhhh....they dont necessarily get value just because someone has signed up for a page

for instance...on Geocities...you can turn off the advertising.....I didnt do that..but you can if you know how....

and well...there are other things that can happen as well...

thanks as usual cm.
An article that gets at the real issues of competition, who will survive and why.

I think this line of thought has one flaw. It still assumes advertising will go to one of three or four. I see the net more like local radio advt, able to target specific markets and eventually see many players making money doing the community thing. I think that's why Motro's move with webchat that built a young chat group makes sense -- I can envision chat rooms mirroring towns, occupations, alumni assoc. even, would you believe an investor group that sells ads to actual investors....lol

Even wired seems not to get it! Maybe I really am dumb and am just fantasising. What does your sense of the advt. business say about paradigms of future web advt and communities?

And good night -- Thanks for shoving me over the edge onto this civilized board. This week's gain should cover it.
