Joe,

the fact that you spent time behind the iron curtain in no way qualifies you as a "student". In fact, you have less excuse for your superficial understanding of the issues.

The major point of interest here is the separation of trade issues vs political issues. Piracy, open markets, trade restrictions are all legitimate trade issues. Telling a trading partner how to run their country is not.

If US will not trade with China unless they improve their human rights record, China and Korea will not trade with Japan until they acknowledge the facts of WWII, Mexico will not trade with the US until the borders are opened and Mexican "immigrants" are not dying in the backhills in San Diego, Argentina will not trade with the UK until the word Falkland disappears from the world map..... we mind as well put a barb wire fence around each country in the world.

I know nothing about Czecho nor Slovakia. For me to make any comments or call their leader goons would make me look as stupid as those who called Chinese leaders goons when their knowledge is limited to the biased coverage by Dan Rather on US TV.

Finally, Jozef, I was not previously aware of your level of understanding on these issues, your post just told me.
