Gracias, Yaacov. ­Lachaim! ... mark - 'convivencia' would mean 'living together' ('peacefully' would be implied). From Spanish con = 'with', and vivir, 'to live'. A French equivalent would likely be detente.

An under-practiced concept in human history, imho, there has been plenty of man's inhumanity to man in these last milenniums, we could maybe do better in the next.

That makes sense that most practising Jews in M‚xico today would be Ashkenazim, since the Safardim were either murdered or converted just before Col¢n sailed for Cipango, or wherever he thought he was going.
