LB11,

There was a crash with a "beta" of W98. It appears someone plugged in a scanner whilst the system was up and running. If that was the case, spikes can be sent from device, especially in absence of good grounding. It is best to plug things in when both computer and peripheral are off. I have been running W98 Beta-3 for some weeks now with scanners and other peripherals. No problems. Works like a champ. Many things go faster. Nice additions for friendly user interface. Explorer(4) has lots of great improvements. I just stopped using Netscape.. used to use both.

I don't see a lot of need, however, for anyone to rush to upgrade in the home/SO environment. IT folks will love it. But, most of them prefer NT4 anyway. IMO, I don't see a major bump from this product. I believe that the MSFT apps are often given short shrift. Every one of them I tested, especially Excel, Publish and Access, are great.
