Here now, don't confuse discussion of the value of the IMS library with that of the rest of the IMS IP. I have no idea how to evaluate the 'box of parts' that IMS owns. We were specifically talking about the standard cell library, which I contend, at $500k would be a reasonable figure. If you can't differentiate because of shortcomings in your understanding then perhaps you ought to pay more attention to what is being written, because my intention has been to educate you all on this business. I have been as informative as you have allowed yourself to understand. The rest of the IP, as Larry Huang points out, is pretty specific to microprocessors, and unless you have a customer who needs that sort of design it is difficult to evaluate, because no one would just sit down and design all those circuits in the abstract. One can design a standard cell library without a customer because the objective parameters are well known to lots of different design groups. All you really need to do is answer a couple of questions relating to whether the library should emphasize speed, density, or richness of function. The rest of the process is cookbook.
