Roger, come one. Virtually all tech companies write off in progress R&D costs of companies they acquire. I think it is virtually required by GAAP as a matter of fact.

It is also entirely proper to amortize over the useful life of the license an upfront licensing fee which requires substantial downstream work.

The only issue Roger is whether there is life for Ctxs after the license period is over. I'd say that is neither more nor less true of Ctxs than most high tech companies. Less true than for Msft and Intc, for sure.
