berney..IBM has done its job and in this particular match it is a "tag team" event...it is now time to turn it over the MSFT.

Berney, your note was well taken. I download IBM - every day from TC200. I Had it in my watch list of stocks because I noticed its leadership role in the tech turnaround of july - august of 96.Back then it was in concert with INTC. INTC this time has lagged in its leadership role relative to IBM. Up until your post on IBM'S poise ready for new highs - I was asleep at the switch! My preference and interest is in low priced stocks . I was lulled into watching IBM without remembering how significant it's leadership role is.

The reconfirmation of IBM'S leadership on lower earnings is perhaps more significant than most on this thread would like to accept. The reality is they are making a lot of money - certainly more than any Asian contagion scenario would have predicted ! Strong new highs on a 5 point gap up is technically speaking significant! This is not to be ignorred - even in an inflated market.

Ask the average tech stock investor if they think this market is high and they've not participated in the last 2000 pts.Their experience has been more the BK type. This allows me to think that before the top of top occurs-the beleagured tech stock shall HAVE to go thru A blowoff top that lures the mullets in.

I really do think I have your astute observation to remind me of IBM's leadership role to watch as a key to this market's top. That is what multiple views on a good thread will do.

I feel we are much closer to a top than any other description (S%P 500 Chart shows very primitive sell signals to my sell stock strategy) When I sell a stock I usually must wait 30-60 before the confirmation of my thought process. I hope that by watching IBM falter on the attainment of a new high, the positioning of shorting the final full market top, will be clearer and extremely short term in timing.

P.S. Great entry point on IBM. I can tell you are the C.P.A. fundamental type. Your perspective provides good balance amongst the E.W./TA/Just good betters.
