Back in the late 1970s, I went through a "profit taking" phase. I sold many of the positions where I had nice gains and waited for the prices to move back to my buy level. After a while, I realized that I was holding nothing but a bunch of dogs. I learned that holding a bunch of dogs is certainly not a very good position to be in.

So, after that period in my life, I decided to hold onto my winners. This strategy has been quite successful over the years. I try to sell the losers, but for some reason, that's very hard for me to do.
