NYSE Rule 431 requires a maintenance excess equity equal to initial Reg T requirement on the largest daytraded position held during the day.

So Rule 431 is not requiring extra cash in the account or to say it another way, you buy less with the same amount of cash?

This is where I'm getting hung up. Doesn't make sense to lose the margin leverage but sure seems like that is what Rule 431 says???

Sorry if I'm a slow learner, but any help clearing this up is appreciated.
