I'm here for the really long haul. This stock will be hitting 35 bucks sometime in the next 2-3 years and I don't have a problem hanging around.

So am I!! Nice report, Shane. Thanks much.

Sam

Thanks for the summary. Interesting.

This is going to be a bumpy ride. "Extended sales cycle" is sometimes a euphemism for "we can't forecast with confidence any more". Frequenters of the Forte thread will already know this, having heard it trotted out for several consecutive quarters. Kathy's throwaway line "as much as 30/60/90 days" is ingenuous, bordering on the naive. I hope it was tongue-in-cheek.

Products are one thing. Execution is another. Borland has spent so long in the straightforward world of "function, feature, benefit" that they are in danger of underestimating the intangibles associated with selling to major clients.

It also puzzles me a little that Del should simultaneously show concern that market awareness is low, and choose to change the company's name. It shows a tremendous faith in the potential of new-brand marketing, way above anything I have ever seen work in the past, even for organizations somewhat larger than Borland. Plus it's a bit of an eighties cliche thing to do.

While the euphoria is still upon me, I'll put a stake in the ground for this quarter. Still short of $50m revenues, but the "back pocket" accruals and reserves should ensure an $0.05 result.

Unless there is another acquisition, of course. What will become of all that cash?
