The problem with media is that Yahoo shows that 1Q loss of .27
instead of gain of .03 before charge. Oh well, they'll catch up
soon I hope.

later,

So we can start the cycle all over again

Hmmm, except that in the meantime loads more share options (say 8-10m) have been authorized, Del's been paid very nicely indeed, and 12m shares have been issued.

Neil.

Well done, Shane, you called this particular speed-bump.

What's your call on the impact of the big announcement? Not trying to second-guess the whole thing, but what do you think the market actually wants to hear from Borland right now?

In the grand scheme of things, Japan - and any other financial hiccup - is not the issue. The management has shown itself competent in fiscal matters. It is the question how quickly and securely the company can change its entire marketing direction and sales focus, without the wheels falling off. Marketing strategy - unlike financial strategy - is not an area that this management has proven itself yet.

Next week will provide some pointers, and that is what prompted my question above. What should they say that will make a difference to market perception?
