Intel Corp. (INTC) 82 7/8 +3 15/16: Morgan Stanley reiterates its "strong buy" rating and $110 price target on chip maker following company meeting with analysts this week; feels that current PC inventory correction should be mostly completed by Q2; also feels that revenue and earnings growth should re-accelerate in the second half of 1998 and throughout 1999......Briefing.com

Kurlac predicts 60/shr. Morgan predicts $110/shr. I think these analyst just play their position.

I see. You're angry INTC up 6.3% and want it to go up like that every day. Maybe only 20 days a year. Maybe only 10. What.

Do your homework. Conference comments are here in the thread. Intel execs say that Q2 flat to lower and then new products bring resumed growth. Asia is actually not bad. Europe good too.

I am startled that the stock moved up so much after Intel execs simply repeated what they had already stated publicly. Second half will pick up. I guess the analysts felt that if they expressed themselves this positively (since they are almost pathologically honest in their financial predictions - always conservative) at a financial analysts meeting they must really mean it.

But all this means nada. If earnings go up, the stock will go up. By the way, if the earnings go up, the executives you routinely trash will have made the right decisions over the past year, but we won't see the fruit of those decisions till about 8 months from now. I'm sure that you'll apologize, should that come to pass, for your intemperate trashing of their competence. Not.

Best regards,
Burt
