Perhaps, but then again IBM beats already lowered estimates by 1cent and anticipates slowing growth going forward and is rewarded by having its price go up $6, go figure?

Bottom line, MSFT beat analysts estimates for this quarter by six cents. MSFT always says that things are slowing down. Why they slowed down so much this quarter that they had to preannounce and tell analyst that they were too low. Win 98 may sell better than the low expectation that MSFT is sending out for general consumption. Yet, at some point down the road, they will say that due to unprecedented demand for their products growth was maintained or whatever.

How do you balance what MSFT is saying versus what INTC and DELL and other PC makers are saying for the second half of this year. Those PCs come loaded with MSFT software.

Gates and Ballmer are the guys that give an analyst report then go back stage and high five each other saying that they "scared the shit" out of those guys. I've been riding the MSFT wave for seven years and enjoying every bit of it.

Regards/IMHO,
Brian

Sure, $99 after hours is typical knee-jerk reaction to beating by 2 ›. For myself, there's no way on
this earth I would invest money in a company that will be reporting decreasing eps for the remainder
of the year. My guess is that MSFT will be in the low $90s next week.

I hope so. Shorted some more earlier in the day (22 Apr)!
