I was impressed with the report. Sequential revs. were relatively flat - but the report was nevertheless impressive. This must be the first quarter that CHKPF conducted a conference call for earnings. Don't have time to listen right now - but I would like to hear anyone's thoughts and notes regarding. I would especially like to hear about acceptance of FloodGate - the field is still moving slowly in acceptance of it - IMO - but it's also my opinion that the coming q will show the growth for FloodGate - as the NT version is released.

I was particularly impressed with the growth in VPN's. Triant has predicted that all along for 1998 - she impresses me more and more as time goes on. And she seems to be excited about the MetaInfo acquisition - that's good.

I'm expecting a strong day tomorrow. Good luck to all CHKPF longs.

Overall, the conference call was pretty impressive. They did feel quite confident about their leading position and did not worry about the potential competitions from CSCO and MSFT. They were trying to convince the Street that the acquisition was a good one (who knows, we'll see). It looks like VPN is a competitive area and CHKPF is currently focusing on. The main contribution of Q1 was from Japan market. They mentioned that more than 130 companies have teamed with CHKPF. Some of them are big telecoms. Q2 may be questioned on whether to beat Q1. Payrolls increased very fast (400 employees now). Sale channels are stable. New products pipeline are good but old products sales slow down. I believe tomorrow will be a good day for all of the shareholders.

I was looking for 40c. Frank was looking for 37c.

BUT I am disappointed by the sequential earning growth. Only
30.8 million. I was hoping for 35. I guess 1q is the slow
quarter. 1q97 was the slow one too.

On the bright side, margin is much better. Even though it's
paying more tax now, it still beat estimate by 9 cents.
CHKPF is now trading at a PE of 31 for the closing price of
$41. Thursday looks to be a wild day.
